For one believes with the heart and so is justified. Romans 10:10
Faith Matters
Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have come to believe.”
John 20:29
Faith in Jesus Christ leads us to live differently. Living in faith brings a new outlook on the world.
Growing and keeping faith, particularly when life gets hard, takes work, but the work is not the point. Faith is dynamic. It will ebb and flow as we journey through life with one constant: God is always there for us offering forgiveness and grace.
Lutherans believe that faith grows through study of scripture, especially the teachings of Jesus from the gospels, and through sharing sacraments.
Two sacraments fortify us on our journey with God: Baptism and Communion.Trust in God’s grace heals us from the taint of sin when we seek forgiveness. Faith brings peace and fulfillment to our lives. This unconditional love and mercy draws us into bold compassion, service to others and care for the world.
“Faith is a living, daring confidence in God’s grace, so sure and certain that believers would stake their lives on it a thousand times.”
Martin Luther
Lutherans: The Beginning
The Lutheran faith emerged from the diligent study of the bible and the extraordinary resolve of an Augustinian friar named Martin Luther. Luther sparked the Protestant Reformation in 16th century Germany with his determination to change certain practices of the Roman Catholic church. This movement led to the formation of other Christian denominations across Europe and the world. The work of Luther and other reformers are still the foundation of our faith today.
