For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve...Mark 10:45
Beitel Lutheran Church in San Antonio is not a wealthy or large congregation. Since our founding in 1904, the area has evolved from being a rural suburb of San Antonio to a bustling commercial strip adjacent to two major interstates.
The pastoral scene of the little country church has been replaced with pockets of low income housing and frequent encampments of those without stable income, food or shelter.
We are embracing the changes around us as an opportunity to serve to share the blessings we have received over these many years.
We target efforts in gap areas including emergency help for those at risk of losing their housing with our Welcome Home project, food drives and support for our emergency service providers.
We actively seek out community partners like the City of San Antonio, other faith communities and local non-profits to increase the impact by working together.
